Hey lovelies!
In my line of work, it’s totally normal that my clients open up to me about some insecurities they might have. Boudoir is shot mostly naked but I know everyone has a trouble spot they want hidden, which I can take care of in editing or we can work on together before the shoot. And the latter is going to be much less hassle for me and much more comfortable for you, so let’s talk about how we can do that.
There are a couple concerns when it comes to choosing the right style of lingerie and a handful of suggestions on color, material, and size. First, let’s take care of those trouble spots. Here’s a couple suggestions for ‘common’ complaints from women.
The Tummy/Your Pooch
If showing your stomach makes you uncomfortable, bring clothing that is going to cover it. Fly-away Babydolls or slips are perfect for hiding your stomach and still looking flirty. Non-lingerie options also include a silky robe, a sports jersey, or a trench coat.
The Non-Thigh Gap
Thigh Gap has found its way into our health and fitness vocabulary somehow, but let’s all be honest with ourselves. It occurs naturally in a specific body type and is otherwise photoshopped on the rest of the models. Yet I do understand that our thighs have caused us some heartache trying on shorts and bathing suits, so look for boy shorts or slips which are typically long enough to cover the bikini line. Non-lingerie options include your favorite pair of jeans with a tshirt, no bra for the casual, Sunday mornings at home look.
*One key thing for thick thighs is to buy properly fitting panties or hose/thigh highs that don’t squeeze your skin. Don’t be afraid to size up for hose. Nobody is going to know what size you bought, but it can make all the difference in your photos!
Chicken Wings
Many women complain about their arms being flabby, and truthfully, there’s not a lot of clothing options to cover those up. Of course, there’s the silky robe or sports jersey. But I recommend just doing some chair dips the few days leading up to your photoshoot and/or during your session, always lay your arm loosely to not squeeze your extra bits or flex a little to give it some definition.
I get a lot of questions about stretch marks too. These little beauty marks can be hidden be a simple garter belt if you find them on your lower abdomen or tops of your thighs. Otherwise, check out this tips you can apply leading up to your photoshoot. The tips can help reduce the redness and swelling in your stretch marks overtime. If you are truly looking for a last minute fix though, grab a concealer that matches your skin tone and blend it generously over the concerning area.
